Contractor appointed on Yorkshire’s tallest building

The main contractor has been appointed for the construction of a 37-storey tower in Leeds which is set to become the tallest building in Yorkshire and North East England.RG Group has been appointed by Olympian Homes as the main contractor on its student housing scheme at Hume House in Leeds. Leeds City Council gave the go-ahead for the development earlier this year.When completed it will be the tallest building in Yorkshire and North East England with a height of 114.3 metres and will provide 278,000 sq ft of accommodation.The site, located on Tower House Street, will provide 752 bedrooms of purpose-built student accommodation, along with a roof terrace on the 35th floor with uninterrupted views across the city.Construction work started on the 37-storey building this week. At its peak, the project will support will more than 300 construction jobs and a number of apprenticeships.
